Overview

I taught and mentored students at CU’s CMCI Studio masters degree program for five semesters. These graduate students are focused on design, technology and entrepreneurship. My core classes are: UX Research, Design Systems and Portfolio. I also guest lecture on special topics including animation, AB testing and designing for algorithmically driven surfaces.

UX Research Class

In my UX Research class, students practice a broad range of research modalities and learn to create research plans. Students conduct research for assigned clients, write ‘Jobs to be done’, and craft product roadmaps based on findings.

Design Systems Class

In Design Systems class, students learn that optimal digital experiences are made up of consistent and accessible visual language patterns. We review well known and lesser known systems in the wild. Students create custom pattern libraries for responsive websites.

Portfolio Class

In Portfolio class, students craft portfolios and do two week design sprints with real partner clients. In class, we cultivate a healthy feedback culture by talking about how to give and receive it. Students practice telling the story of their work with accompanying still and animated assets.
